Happy Halloween from Chiot’s Run
I love towns that celebrate Halloween on the actual holiday, not the Sunday before on Wednesday afternoon. My mom’s town celebrates on Halloween and we always head over there to go trick-or-treating with our nieces & nephew. Lucy usually has a costume as well and she walks around with us. Last year she was Wendy from the Wendy’s restaurant. This year she has a costume as well, I’ll post a photo later today so check back.
Until then here’s a photo that really shows the season, fresh apples and black cats. As someone commented on this photo over at Flickr: This photo is like everything I expect from an American Autumn and more!
How do you celebrate Halloween? any fun costumes this year?

Happy Halloween to you too! I’m not sure what goes on in my neighborhood – last year was my first in this house, and I was actually away at the time. Since the actual Halloween date is the weekend, I bet even more children will be out. No costume for me though, somehow I never got into that for myself. I like seeing creative costumes of others though :-)

I love costumes, but I never have any reason to dress up. I’d love the be the statue of liberty sometimes.

we’ve all been sick this week, but thankfully we’re better (enough) to take the boys out tonight. we’re doing the star wars thing… not very original, but that’s what they wanted. luke is darth vader, joey is a clone trooper, and sam is yoda. they didn’t have any newborn baby star wars costumes, so jake will probably be the puppy that sam was last year! our small town is pretty good about doing trick or treating on the actual night of halloween. we live out in the country so we’re heading to a neighborhood where we know a lot of people.unfortunately with 4 kids, our poor 4 dogs don’t get to dress up! but they do have on really cute candy corn collars… does that count?! tomorrow i’ll put on their thanksgiving turkey leg collars:)

Halloween is a favorite, although this year I’m home alone and enjoying the wind whistling around the corner, the darkened sky, and three black cats.

Lucy looks SO CUTE. Hope you guys had a great Halloween. Kinda slow here in FL. compared to OH, but was still a lot of fun.
Peace, Love, and Monster Hugs!

I don’t dress up, but my kids do. J was a dragon (he was able to fit into last year’s costume again) and L was going to be a skunk. While I did finish L’s costume in time (well…not quite there’s still some elastic to put in) she wasn’t able to wear it since she’s ill this year with what I suspect is possibly the flu. I’m really hoping it will still fit her next year.

Hello,
I know it’s past Halloween, but I read your post on costumes and decorating, since I am very frugal I thought you might like seeing some of the decorating my son and I did this past Halloween. All the materials were either bought at garage sales, thirft stores or stuff I had around the house. My son made all the creatures and did all the decorations so I guess he deserves the credit. I have to add the video on their, it’s really cool, it was taken at night and the background has creepy music the whole works, I had over 250 kids this year that came to our house…WOW, I ran out of candy 4 times. We did the Halloween theme the year before last and it was a great sucess. Halloween and Christmas are my favorite Holidays. Here is the link to the photos and short clip, just copy and paste or use the link. http://www.flickr.com/photos/by_rene/
Enjoy!!
