This is a daily journal of my efforts to cultivate a more simple life, through local eating, gardening and so many other things. We used to live in a small suburban neighborhood Ohio but moved to 153 acres in Liberty, Maine in 2012.

Went to Maine 2 years ago on a hunting trip. In the Portage Lake area. We still miss it and would love to go back to visit. Love, love, love Maine.

Susy, this week I’ve been enjoying my grandson being back home. After being gone for a year, it’s such a joy to be back in the routine of helping his Mom to raise him. At 10 going on 11, fun things are beginning to be a common practice. Now, if I could just get him interested in gardening. :-) Oh, well, I wasn’t much interested in gardening at 10 either. My roots kicked in some where in the 20s. Now farming and driving tractors, that was my passion when I was growing up. I expect it would be for him too if I had such machinery but alas, my tools are all hand driven.
