Friday Favorite: Quiet Evenings
I love a quiet evening at home, sitting in the living room, reading by the light of a lamp.
Perhaps a cup of tea, or a gin & tonic, maybe a cup of hot chocolate…
There’s really no better way to spend a winter evening for an introvert bookworm like myself.
What’s your idea of a favorite evening?

Susie, early on in our marriage, I would spend time each evening reading to my wife as we settled into bed for a night of sleep. She always had trouble sleeping and the sound of my voice would help to calm her down from the day’s activities. While laying in bed reading to her, she would lay her head on my chest and be able to hear my heart beating. She said it made her feel safe. I really haven’t read many books just for fun since she passed. It was a very special time that has become a very special memory.
Have a great reading by lamp light evening.

Goodness Nebraska Dave- that touches my soul- thank you for that.
Lately my husband works until nine, and I realized that if I got the bedtime routine started early- I could have lights out by seven for my two little guys-then have two glorious hours alone- (Its tough to be an introvert with a three and four year old!) I read, make lists of things I could like to do, see, cook…I have been looking at old scrapbooks, and I have been writing letters. This time is like oxygen.
