Useful and Beautiful
“Have nothing in your house that you do not know to be useful, or believe to be beautiful.”
― William Morris
I have a friend that LOVES this quote and uses it whenever she’s bringing things into her home. When I collected eggs last week this quote came to mind.
The eggs were a beautiful array of colors from light blue to dark olive, exactly what I’ve been working towards over the past couple years. If you’re going to have chickens, you may as well have ones that lay beautifully colored eggs.
What’s your favorite useful and beautiful thing in your home?

Susy, my home is not a place of order or beauty but it is a peaceful haven. To me that’s more important than a neat orderly house to live in. My wife was border line hoarder and her daughter has inherited that trait which has been passed on to her son. So my house is mostly in disarray and until they move out it will not be an orderly house. I learned long ago that peace and harmony in a household is more beautiful than a picture perfect house. My Mom was a neat and orderly person, so I’ve been exposed to both worlds. When left on my own with no one else living in the house I kind of gravitate toward neat and orderly.
So yeah, there are some useful and beautiful things in the house but they are mostly surrounded by other stuff and go unnoticed. Some day I’ll get my house back. :-)
Have a great useful and beautiful day.

I LOVE that quote. I will have to remember it and take it to heart. Your eggs are lovely. I wish we could have chickens, but according to zoning I’m on the WRONG side of the street!! Oh well.
