Overrun with Lady Beetles
These warmer, sunny spring days are bringing out those pesky Asian lady beetles en masse. We always have some inside the house, this year it has reached infestation levels.
I’m not sure why there are so many of them this year and at this time, but it’s a bit crazy. I vacuum them up about 10 times a day, trying to keep the population under control. As soon as I put away the vacuum, there are just as many as I cleaned up. I’m guessing I suck up about 300-400 a day. We also have lots of stink bugs and wasps coming into the house. Those get sucked up as well.
What are you biggest indoor pests?

Although I have not been invaded yet, I would like to know if anyone knows a deterrent for the lady bugs! They will again being showing up here soon.

I have read that lemon oil will do it, which I tried with zero success. I’ve also read that bay leaves and cloves are a deterrent for them. I haven’t tried those two things yet. Our biggest issue is that the house isn’t sealed up tight, so I don’t think any of the normal ways will help in our case.

Our biggest indoor pest so far is a red weiner dog named Tilly! :) Are these lady bugs you’re seeing not the good ones that eat aphids, etc.?

Susy, goodness, we here in Nebraska don’t have weather warm enough yet for any bugs to emerge. Still today on the first day of Spring the prediction is for rain mixed with snow. As I gaze out the window at the back yard I see that a light covering of snow has covered the grass. It looks pretty shiny on the road in front of my house so I suspect it did some freezing rain. So the plans for checking out the garden will not happen again today. The Spring is going to be very late this year.
Have a great bug extermination day.
