New Year, New Goals

January 2nd, 2019

I don’t make New Years resolutions, but I often set goals, or some specific thing I want to focus on throughout the year. It’s usually something that translates through to everything I do. This year, my goal is “Less, But Better”

Less, but better…..food
Less, but better…..stuff
Less, but better…..gardens
Less, but better…..projects (to focus on enjoying the process of creating, not just the finished product)
I want to have a bit more time to sit, relax, and enjoy being.

My focus is also to use up what I have. I want to eat up all the food from the freezers and the pantry. I want to sew the patterns I have and use up fabric from my stash. This will not only save me money this year, it will help clear some of the things out of the house and reduce the amount of stuff we have in many spaces.

What are you goals & intentions for 2019?

Along the lines of less, I need to declutter. I’m not a big believer in waiting until the new year to start resolutions, so this began a little while ago. I signed up for the Apartment Therapy Cure (thanks for the heads up) and this will rev me up to continue. Now, I’m off to clean out my sock drawer!

That’s a great mantra. One of my goals is to use up freezer food as well.

Susy, my mantra for this year will be “Finish it” or as a famous Nebraska comedian says “Let’s get ur done”. I have a long list of projects that are about half done when my interest waned away. This is the year to get them completed. I’ve already started with an inside project that’s been in progress for some months. So nothing new until every thing is finished. That will be a miracle for me. So here’s to 2019 and finishing it.

Have a great “less but better year” and we will revisit this in 2020 and compare notes.

My husband and I started decluttering/purging in the fall and have been at it ever since. It feels so good to donate items or give them to friends and lighten our load at the same time.

I’m doing the same. One of my rules for acquiring something new is that I must love it or it must at least be very useful. I’m using this rule as I go through things. Less feels a lot better.
